The present article deals with the research of marked and unmarked word order functioning in the extended and non-extended structural types and models of absolute infinitive construction in the Middle English and Early New English language (12th-17th centuries). In this regard the coexistence of various word order patterns in absolute infinitive constructions in the Middle and Early New English periods as well as the fixing of SVO word order in the simple sentence are analysed.
